Shangri-la Comprehensive Development

Project Summary

Location: Kunming, China

Project area: 85,000 m²

Service: Architecture

As the natural ‘Shangri-la’ is in Yunnan, the Shangri-la hotel’s design concept expands upon on terraced fields, a unique geographic element. This language utilised in and out, creating a complex and rich indoor-outdoor space penetration effect, then combined with handpicked facade materials, including natural-tone stones and wood-tone aluminum.

The scheme split into 2 plots and utilised with a common language. 43,000 m² on the south featured a 39 story apartment, and 42,000 m² on the North featured the iconic 5-stars hotel, retail and F&B with direct metro linkage in near future. More than a local landmark, the new complex will be serving the city’s best hospitality and retail hub to both domestic and foreign.
