Project Summary
Location: Chongqing, China
Project area: 735,800 m²
Service: Master planning, Architecture
The project is located in north Chongqing , which is only 8.3 km to the Chongqing North Railway Station and 6.8 km to the Chongqing Airport. The development includes three major districts namely the outlets and entertainment venue, the wholesale market, the food street. The total site area is 278,286 sq.m and the total GFA is 735,000 sq.m.
The outlets and entertainment venue on the northwestern side has a site area of 71,529 sq.m and GFA of 163,904 sq.m. The shopping street extends along the surrounding roads to provide excellent commercial display provisions on the facade. On both northwestern and eastern side, two large commercial entrances and urban plazas are created by the building setback. Based on the local topographic conditions, the project takes advantage of the local terrain to create a ‘multi-entrance, multi-level shopping mall that greatly enhance the commercial value on all floor levels within the scheme. In the centre of the whole scheme a huge outdoor show stage has been created for the outlets and entertainment venue.
The wholesale market on the northeastern side has a total GFA of 528,494 sq.m, including three square shaped blocks. The northern block includes 80,000 sq.m leather mall, a 40,000 sq.m musical pavilion and a 60,000 sq.m Korean Pavilion. The other two blocks include eight wholesale malls and two 80 metre office towers. In between each building a 3-storey shopping street is planned to connect at different levels. These buildings are well connected by the bridges on the upper level.
The main display façade is on the eastern side facing the airport express. This rich and dynamic main façade uses 7 basic triangle modules based on a pattern that reflects the blue sky and white clouds. The facade is designed to be constructed using standardised modular panels and the repetition of each triangular cell will greatly simplify the fabrication and installation thereby reducing construction costs.
